A DAY OF INNOVATION, INSIGHT, AND LIVE DEMONSTRATION
Pipetech, in collaboration with The Pipeline Industries Guild and Severn Trent Water, proudly hosted the exclusive STOPPING FLOW | NOT SUPPLY event at the outstanding Severn Trent Training Academy near Finham. The day brought together industry professionals, innovators, and operational leaders for an in-depth look at how modern line stopping technology is reshaping utility network management.
TECHNICAL INSIGHTS TO START THE DAY
The event began with opening remarks from Peter Sykes Tucker, Chair of the P.I.G. Midlands Branch, who welcomed attendees and provided an overview of Pipetech. This was followed by Ashley Bentley, M
idlands Committee member and UK Sales Manager for Pipetech, who outlined the day’s itinerary.
The detailed technical presentation was delivered by Pipetech Managing Director, James Hodgson. Who provided a comprehensive overview of the FlowStop system range, from H1 to H5, covering 2” to 20” on metallic mains and 63mm to 500mm on PE.
His presentation walked attendees through the full operational process, from planning to deployment, and highlighted real-world use cases that clearly demonstrated the safety, efficiency, and practical benefits of the FlowStop solution.
COLLABORATION OVER LUNCH
After the presentation, guests enjoyed a relaxed networking lunch where people from across the utilities sector had the chance to swap ideas, share experiences, and talk about the future of innovation in the industry. The conversations were wide-ranging and genuinely valuable, reflecting a shared commitment to continuous improvement and best practice.
FLOWSTOP IN ACTION
The afternoon featured our long-awaited live demo, where attendees got to see our world-class line stopping system in action. This technology lets teams safely isolate sections of pipeline without disrupting customer supply, an essential advantage for day-to-day operations.
Built for maintenance, installation, and emergency repairs, FlowStop needs only minimal excavation, prioritises safety, and delivers a reliable way to keep services running on both metallic and PE networks.
Watching the system deployed in real time gave visitors a valuable look at how it works and how it can help them strengthen the resilience of their own networks.
A SHARED VISION FOR THE FUTURE
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to all those involved in the organisation and everyone who attended the event. It was fantastic to see so many industry leaders, engineers, and innovators come together with a shared goal for delivering reliable, efficient, and future-ready solutions for all customers.
The team at Pipetech would like to give a special thank you to Neil Cotton and his FlowStopping Team at Severn Trent for delivering an outstanding FlowStop demonstration, and to The Pipeline Industries Guild, along with the Severn Trent Water Academy Team, for their invaluable support in making this event a success.
Together, we’re driving innovation forward, preventing disruption of supply and allowing networks to improve their performance.
